PRESS RELEASE
MAUI COUPLE WINS FREE $31,000 WEDDING FROM MAUI WEDDING ASSOCIATION
Maui, HI-May 27, 2009) The Maui Wedding Association (MWA), in association with Hawaii Bride and Groom Magazine and OC16 TV, is giving away a complete wedding package valued at over $31,000 to George and Tammy de la Nux of Maui. George and Tammy will have the wedding of their
lifetime on July 22, 2009 at the Maui Prince Hotel, followed by a dinner reception at the Rusty Harpoon Restaurant & Tavern. The couple, who finished
second place in the Wedding of a Lifetime contest, has gone through their share of misfortune during their ten years of marriage (they had a civil
ceremony in court). On January 8, 2007, George was diagnosed with cancer. After almost two years of doctors, treatments, and medical bills,
doctors informed the couple on Christmas Day 2008 that they had exhausted all possible treatments and that George's chances of remission or
survival were grim. Their plan for a 2009 vow renewal to celebrate their 10th anniversary seemed impossible and unaffordable. Their strong faith in
God, love for each other, support from family and friends, and generosity of the organizations involved are making this George and Tammy's
wedding of a lifetime.
For the past several years, Hawaii Bride & Groom magazine and OC16 have awarded one deserving couple from Hawaii a "Wedding of a
Lifetime." The primary purpose of this contest is to give back to the people of Hawaii and changing their lives forever. The Maui wedding for
George and Tammy is a first in the annual Hawaii Bride and Groom Wedding of A Lifetime Contest. In past years, only Oahu vendors have been able
to participate in the contest with their being only one winning couple to be selected and married on the island of Oahu. This year, Maui had the
privilege to partake in this amazing opportunity and offer a second place prize due to the generosity of several of the island's merchants.
The Maui Wedding Association (MWA), a nonprofit organization of wedding professionals throughout Maui, works to bring together businesses to
promote the advancement of the Maui wedding industry and to foster a caring attitude and Aloha spirit. Since early April 2009, the participating
vendors from MWA have been doing just that while working with Tori Rogers from Hawaiian Island Wedding Planners to plan a most magnificent
wedding for George and Tammy to enjoy with their thirty-five guests. Rogers adds, “I was so happy to learn that the Maui couple had won the
Maui wedding! This is an amazing opportunity for Maui We are all so excited to be able to create such a heartfelt and beautiful wedding for George
and Tammy, members of our own Maui ohana! Their lifelong history on Maui will make this an incredibly meaningful celebration.
Wedding guests will receive beautiful invitations provided by the Island Paperie. The couple will enjoy a four day stay at the Hale Pau Hana Resort in
Kihei, where the bride will receive in-room beauty services from On Location Styling while other members of the bridal party are pampered at Trudy's
Fountain of Youth in Kihei. The bride and groom will wear attire provided by the Hawaiian Wedding Shop, and ride in a limousine to the wedding
ceremony and reception provided by Baron's Limousine Maui Hawaii. Flowers and dГ©cor provided by Dellables will look fantastic in the photos
and video provided by Maui Style Media, Aihara Visuals, Mike Sidney Photography, and Joanna Tano Photography. Guests will arrive to the
instrumental sounds of Ginny Morgan and Irene Ryding, and most likely laugh and cry during Reverend Joseph Narrowe and Alalani Hill's
contribution to the couple's emotional and intimate ceremony Following the ceremony will be a butterfly release from Maui Butterfly Farm. The
celebration will continue as guests board the party bus provided by Akina Aloha Tours to dine and dance at the Rusty Harpoon. Cassie Akina,
general manager of Akina Aloha Tours, shared, "Tammy worked in our Dispatch department for several years and George in our washcrew for a
short period. So I am so glad that we can give them the Wedding of their dreams". Other MWA professionals offering their services include Evan
Shulman, Hawaiian Island Prints, Inlight Production, Larry Mischle, West Maui Engraving, Engraving by Barons, and Ghiselani Wedding Cake, and
Grace Weddings.
A special feature of George & Tammy's wedding will be in the Fall/Winter 2009 issue of Hawaii Bride and Groom Magazine; and, on OC16 Television in January 2010.
